Introduction

Electrofusion pipe fitting can be connected by the temperature generated from electric current. Leveraging advanced electrofusion technology, these fittings deliver safe, reliable, and leak-proof connections that outperform traditional joining methods in many scenarios. It is most commonly used for jointing pipes up to 250mm diameter but there is no technical upper limit. Electrofusion is equally suited to both coiled and straight pipe lengths, and can be used to joint pipes of different nominal diameters and SDR's using suitable fittings.

HDPE electrofusion fittings ends are coiled with brass wire. The HDPE electrofusion machine provides electric current and heats through the brass wire coiled at the end of the fitting to connect. When the temperature rises, it melts the inner end of the HDPE electrofusion fitting and the outer end of the HDPE pipe.

Core Working Principle

The core of electrofusion fitting technology lies in the built-in resistance wire coil embedded in the fitting’s inner wall. During installation:

1. The HDPE pipe end is inserted into the fitting until it reaches the designated position.

2. A dedicated electrofusion welding machine is connected to the fitting’s terminals.

3. The machine supplies a precise electric current to the resistance wire, which generates controlled heat due to electrical resistance.

4. The heat melts both the outer surface of the HDPE pipe and the inner surface of the fitting uniformly.

5. After a preset heating and cooling period, the melted polyethylene fuses into a single, homogeneous structure, forming a permanent, high-strength joint.

01

Exceptional Connection Reliability: The fusion process creates a molecular-level bond between the pipe and fitting, ensuring the joint has equal or even higher strength than the pipe itself. It effectively avoids common issues like leakage, disconnection, and pressure loss that may occur with mechanical connections.

02

Simple and Efficient Installation: The operation requires only a matching electrofusion machine and basic surface preparation of the pipe end. It eliminates the need for complex tools or extensive on-site welding expertise, significantly reducing installation time and labor costs. The process is highly suitable for both on-site construction and confined space operations.

03

Strong Adaptability to Working Conditions: HDPE electrofusion fittings are corrosion-resistant, chemical-resistant, and have excellent impact resistance and low-temperature toughness. They are compatible with HDPE pipes for applications in potable water supply, sewage and drainage, gas transmission, mining slurry transportation, agricultural irrigation, and industrial fluid conveyance systems.

04

Uniform Welding Quality: The welding parameters (current, voltage, duration) are precisely controlled by the electrofusion machine, minimizing human error. This ensures consistent welding quality across every joint, making it ideal for large-scale pipeline projects that demand strict quality standards.
